Herpes Support NYC

Community = Common Unity . . . and a lil’ more than that

I’m Courtney Brame. I’ve lived with herpes since 2013, or at least that’s when I was diagnosed. Those first few years, I didn’t know what I needed. Most of the “support” I found didn’t meet me where I was. When I finally thought I found what I was looking for, I realized those spaces were actually reinforcing stigma and I didn’t like the version of myself I became in them.

So, I built what I needed.

That creation became Something Positive for Positive People (SPFPP), a podcast that started with honest conversations between people navigating herpes stigma. Over time, it evolved into a community. Today, we’ve had hundreds of thousands of touchpoints across the digital world. And I’m willing to bet that if you’re here, there are at least a few dozen folks nearby who share a desire to transmute stigma into healing through genuine community.

I’ve met some truly amazing people through this work. I’ve seen connections spark from romantic, platonic, and everything in between just by creating safe spaces for people to be seen. And if you know me, you know I love a good social vibe: karaoke, board games, cards, music, real connection. If that speaks to you, come check out our next in-person herpes support event in NYC (most likely Brooklyn, where all the cool kids are, obviously).

Not ready for in-person events yet? That’s cool too. Join the [herpes newsletter] to stay updated on upcoming events, support opportunities, and virtual meetups.

Upcoming NYC Event:
Social & Talent Show Social – Dec 12 | 5–9pm | Brooklyn
Expect good vibes, shared stories, and real people doing their thing. We’ll probably migrate to another local spot or break off into pods if people are down to keep the night going.

This is the kind of herpes support I wish I had when I was first diagnosed, local, real, shame-free, and human. Welcome to Something Positive for Positive People.
