What is Yoga Therapy?
The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), says that Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga.

At Something Positive for Positive People, Yoga Therapy is offered as a one-on-one support option for people navigating herpes stigma more from an inside out perspective. Oftentimes people reach out to learn to engage with others and communicate about their status, which we help with for sure, but that need just falls to the wayside when we deal with herpes stigma at the core, internally.

Why Yoga Therapy for Herpes?

Yoga has helped me personally not just in minimizing herpes outbreaks to three total since 2013, but in transforming my relationship with herpes stigma. It taught me how to identify imbalances in my mind, emotions, body, and most importantly, in my nervous system. That’s often where our challenges with outbreaks, beliefs, and behaviors begin.

These sessions are about noticing where those imbalances exist and applying tools from yoga to gently return to a stable baseline. When your nervous system finds its rhythm, it becomes easier to minimize herpes outbreaks, recognize misaligned relationships or behaviors, and move with clarity and confidence again.

What to Expect

Yoga Therapy sessions are 60 minutes long and personalized to what you need most. Some elements we may include:

  • Reflective conversation

  • Journaling prompts

  • Breathwork to regulate emotions

  • Gentle movement

  • Meditation and stillness

  • Visualization to support nervous system balance

The goal isn’t to “get good” at yoga. The goal is to reconnect with yourself through presence aside from your herpes diagnosis.

  • Format: 1-on-1 virtual sessions (Zoom)

  • Length: 60 minutes

  • Rate: $165 per session

  • No diagnosis required
