About Courtney Brame

Courtney Brame, founder of Something Positive for Positive People (SPFPP) gives a behind the scenes look at his work supporting people navigating stigma.

“Life is about what happens through you, not to you.”
— Courtney Brame

I’m Courtney Brame—yoga teacher, podcast host, founder of Something Positive for Positive People (SPFPP), and a guide for people navigating stigma toward purpose, and co-author in Fundamental Concepts and Critical Developments in Sex Education.

I was diagnosed with genital herpes in 2013. At the time, I had no roadmap for what came next—especially as a Black man dealing with identity stigma, sexual shame, and the isolation that followed. What I found online was community… and pain. I saw people talking openly about suicide ideation after a diagnosis, and in 2017, I decided to turn my energy outward. What began as a podcast to share our stories became a broader movement rooted in one practice: presence.

SPFPP now serves as a space to witness the full spectrum of stigmatized identity—not just herpes. I help people reconnect with their core self, stabilize in their purpose, and build the rhythm to live as they are, without shame or apology.

Whether through donation-based support calls, stigma-informed Yoga Therapy sessions, or real conversations on the podcast, I hold space for people to remember who they are beyond what the world has told them to be.

If you’re navigating herpes stigma—or any identity-based stigma—and need space to process, I’m here. We don’t fix. We feel. Together.
