ATTENTION NYC (and surrounding areas) — Join the SPFPP community for an evening of entertainment and socializing with local people who share the common interest of minimizing herpes stigma.
We’re gathering to celebrate more than eight years of podcasts, support, advocacy, and community in a fun way where we can also give back to the community we serve. Expect a bar, music, live performances, socializing & dancing — and if you have a talent you want to display (I am really pushing a karaoke!) then sign up for the talent show. This is a stigma-free space, welcome to everyone connected to the intention of minimizing herpes stigma from whatever their proximity to it is.
LOCATION — Brooklyn, NY — Address released closer to the date of the event!
SCHEDULE
5 pm — Doors open
6 pm — Welcome and socializing with some music in the background (sign up for karaoke/the talent show)
7 pm — Talent show/karaoke begins
8:15pm — Live performances
8:50pm — Closing remarks for a 9pm end time. Event transitions and we leave or we pay for the following event to stay which MIGHT be the move low key! (Details for this in registration confirmation in case you want to prepare to stay)
PARKING — Parking on the street is available, but this place is accessible by the J train for commuters.
ACCESSIBILITY — There’s a step at the entry point for those with wheelchair needs as a heads up. The venue has seating options at the bar and adjacent to the bar, some couches. Lighting will be fairly dim. Reach out to me to inquire on further accessibility inquiries.
Venue costs will be covered by your donations to register for the event. All ticket sales go toward Something Positive for Positive people, a 501c3 nonprofit organization supporting people navigating herpes stigma. We offer 1-1 support, community events both virtual and in person, advocacy from a yoga-informed approach. Our resources come from the experience-based research of podcast interviews and survey responses since the creation of our podcast in 2017.
